Lorient is an old town in France although it appears quite modern now given it was completely destroyed during World War II and rebuilt again around the 1950s. However, it is a great place to head if you enjoy Breton and Celtic music or just music in general given the fact that every summer during July there is a large international music festival that brings people in from every country in the world.
Lorient is also a great place for a weekend camping trip as there are plenty of tent and caravan parks that are nearby parks and trails that will allow for a great outdoor holiday in the fresh air of the outskirts of the city.
Also popular among most visitors is the Lorient beach which stretches along the coast and beckons sun tanning and swimmers with its clear blue waters and pure white grains of sand. Further along the coast, there are a number of exclusive boutique hotels also making Lorient ideal for a luxury beach holiday in the heart of Britanny.
Nearby is the Lorient submarine museum as well, which is a huge hit with children and adults alike, as you can see authentic submarines and plenty of associated historical artefacts which is one of the perks of the fact that the city was a WWII naval military base.
